A configured game profile

Step 1: Setup

Set up your target starter in PokeFinder.

Save in front of the gift.
Open PokeFinder → Gen 5 tab → "Static" → "Searcher".
Set the correct starter and all the desired filters for it (shininess, IVs, ability, etc.).
Set Initial Advances to at least 5.
Set Max Advances as needed. Avoid setting it too high, as it can slow the process or make it impractical.
Leave Min/Max IV Advances at 0.
Generate results and choose a target.

Step 2: RNG the Starter

Hit your seed and reach the correct Advance to receive the Pokémon.

Hit the target Initial Seed using this guide.
(Optional) Make a save state some advances before as a backup.
Advance by saving the game repeatedly until you reach the target Advance.
Close the menu and press A to open the gift and choose the starter.
If you miss by accident, reload the save state and repeat from step 3; if no save state was made, repeat from step 1.

Congrats! You've now got your Pokémon!
