Gist: Be infected by Pokérus

Pokérus

After each wild battle, there is a 1 / 21,845 chance that one of your Pokémon will be infected with Pokérus. While infected by Pokérus, EVs gained from battling are doubled. Pokérus is notably required to get optimal low-level Pokémon such as Level 5 Smeargle with Dragon Rage.

Find Best Setup

  1. Fill the considered setup fields. Choose between stationary and wild encounters:
    • Stationary encounter: Kecleon and Voltorb encounters are recommended.
      • Pros: Pokémon generation has a stable number of RNG advances (always 4 advances). Access to 6 Pickup Pokémon for easier calibration.
      • Cons: You must reset the game after each attempt. Your lead Pokémon must be high level to defeat the encounter in 1-shot.
    • Wild encounter:
      • Pros: Always available. Faster attempts.
      • Cons: Pokémon generation advances RNG unpredictably (between 18 and 100 advances), which means hitting your target requires luck.
  2. Press "Find best setup".
  3. Select a setup from the results. Prefer one with a low wait, several advances resulting in Pokérus, and a high calibration chance.
  4. Prepare the party shown in the selected setup. Pickup Pokémon must not be holding items.
  5. Go to an encounter location with no wandering NPCs and save the game.

Create Battle Video

Battle Video is a RNG technique to save and restore the RNG state. Using that technique, players only need to wait the full delay of their RNG manipulation once. Afterwards, each retry is very quick.After winning or losing a battle at the Battle Frontier, players can record their battle. The RNG state at the start of the battle is saved into the battle record. Players can watch their battle anywhere by opening their trainer card and selecting "Battle Record". By doing so, the current RNG state is reseeded with the RNG state at the start of the recorded battle.Creating a Battle Video is optional if Painting Reseeding is not used.You must select a setup in the previous step first.

Battle and Calibrate

  1. Start the timer in the tool below.
  2. When the first timer reaches 0, close the Battle Video. If no Battle Video was created, soft reset with Start + Select + A + B instead.
  3. At the next timer, trigger Sweet Scent (for a wild encounter) or interact with the selected stationary Pokémon.
  4. Defeat the Pokémon, then wait on the final message indicated by the timer. Don't run away because the Pickup ability won't be triggered.
  5. When the final timer reaches 0, press A to end the battle.
  6. Check every Pokémon in your party for Pokérus. If one is infected, congratulations!
  7. If none of your Pickup Pokémon has an item, try again. This attempt can't be calibrated.
  8. If they have items, enter the items in the fields below and press "Generate".
  9. Select the update action for the closest result, then repeat this step with the adjusted calibration.
  10. Remove held items from your all Pokémon before trying again.
